I have enjoyed carpenter work since I was 9 years old. I also have
an enthusiam for anythng electronic, from computers to audio video equipment.
Combine those two interest and the construction of a home theater was inevitable.
We put this web site together so our releatives that live quite a
ways away could see the theater. As it turns out, we get a lot of questions
from people about the setup and it is nice to be able to just show them the
web site.
After 6 months of intense research, remodeling and paint -- plenty of
paint -- the movie house is complete. What follows is a before/after photo
gallery. There are finishing touches to add -- art work, posters, and other
movie memorabilia. Large popcorn with extra butter, please.

The first step was to empty the 9'6" x 23' basement room, rip out
the carpet, put in a new banister, and paint a great blue texture on the
walls. The ceiling will be painted grey to reduce light reflection.
The light on the wall will eventually be replaced with a theater style
sconce. The green cloth on the back wall was used to help get an idea of what the best size for the movie screen would be. |

Not much here, but this corner will soon hold the components and
bookshelf.
Unfortunately, the seats we located via e-bay at a community theater across the country are burgundy -- and there's no way the blue is going to work. Time to repaint the walls a nice burgundy. It'll be easier to find things to match that way. |
